From Milestones to Momentum: Here’s to 2026!

As we step into 2026, we look back on an impactful 2025 marked by innovation, collaboration, and strong Dutch visibility in the global mobile ecosystem.

Reflecting on 2025

The Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona was a true highlight. The Netherlands Pavilion once again served as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and global visibility from the Netherlands:

  • Inspiring sessions: Attention to digital autonomy and sovereignty with Future Network Services, Topsector ICT (Digital Holland) with talks moderated by Paul Timmers sparked meaningful conversations that became more and more relevant. Other topics included AI-driven engagement and the ongoing relevance of 2G in a 5G world and talks about collaborations between the partners of the delegation around Eurofiber and between Spie and KPN.

  • VIP visits: We were proud to welcome Minister Dirk Beljaarts of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to the pavilion.

  • Building connections: Thousands of interactions were made on the pavilion floor, at our evening events like the NL Community Night and the International Reception at the Netherlands Pavilion.

  • Knowledge Mission Innovation: A session at SES titled “The road to ubiquitous communications and data sharing on the #North #Sea in 2030” explored how satellite technology supports global digital transformation, especially in maritime contexts. Moderated by Mark Beermann.

  • Global stage visibility: Our panel “Connectivity Solutions for the North Sea and Beyond,” moderated by Anke Kuipers, brought Dutch expertise to the GSMA stage.

  • Sustainability is getting more and more attention with contributions from Fairphone and their cooperation, a knowledge mission by Tieneke Breemhaar and with Deutsche Telekom to “20 Years of Huawei NL and the Road to a Sustainable Future” to “Leading in Sustainable Indoor Networks,” our talks sparked meaningful conversations.

  • Private networking was addressed by a knowledge mission tour by Koen Mioulet guiding through the highlights of the growing importance of private networking at MWC.

  • Recognition & awards: Nominees were ChatLicense, Fiber Unlimited Inc, Closing the Loop and BroadForward. BroadForward celebrated a GLOMO win!

  • Media spotlight: Our pavilion and Dutch innovation captured international attention, featuring on SiliconANGLE & theCUBE, with Savannah Peterson, David Vellante, Frank Fay, and team highlighting our ecosystem to the world.

This all took place with thanks to the support of digital holland.

Beyond MWC, the Dutch ecosystem stayed vibrant with inspiring events to connect, reflect, and prepare for the future: including Fairphone’s sustainability and digital sovereignty gathering, the first National 6G Conference at TU Delft, and the NL@MWC community meetups at The Hague Tech (around the NATO event) and in Eindhoven exploring chips, connectivity, AI and security.
