On Monday, 26 January 2026, representatives from industry, knowledge institutions, and government will convene at the NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam for the presentation of the ten Action Agendas that form a core component of the National Technology Strategy: Innovation in Action for Our Future.
This National Technology Strategy outlines the essential building blocks for a future-proof Dutch technology policy. It identifies a set of key enabling technologies in which Dutch knowledge institutions and industry can make a strong international impact and develop a distinctive position. These technologies are:
- Optical systems and integrated photonics
- Quantum technologies
- Process technology, including process intensification
- Biomolecular and cell technologies
- Imaging technologies
- Mechatronics and opt mechatronics
- Artificial intelligence and data science
- Energy materials
- Semiconductor technologies
- Cybersecurity technologies
MWC Barcelona 2026
At least six of these technologies feature prominently in the agenda of MWC Barcelona 2026:
optical technologies/photonics, quantum technologies, AI and data, imaging technologies, semiconductor technologies, and cybersecurity.
The Netherlands’ program for MWC 2026 is currently being developed to ensure these themes are strongly represented, both during the knowledge missions and in programming at the Netherlands Pavilion. During the Kick-off event on 4 February at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, we will share insights and outcomes from the 26 January Action Agenda session.
Digital Holland
Digital Holland (formerly Topsector ICT and partner of the Netherlands Pavilion) is responsible for developing two of the ten Action Agendas:
- The AI & Data Action Agenda, and
- The Cybersecurity Technologies Action Agenda.
These agendas raise important questions: - What is the purpose of these Action Agendas?
- How were they developed, and who contributed?
- What ambitions and challenges shape each agenda?
- And what impact do we expect them to have on the Dutch innovation ecosystem?
In the coming weeks, Digital Holland will publish frequent updates on the development and implications of these agendas.
